I Wore Chic Soul Boutique for a Week and this is what Happened {Curvy Fashion}

I wore Chic Soul Boutique every day this week and had zero clothing meltdowns. Thats a huge deal for me… ask my husband. It has always been hard to find on trend clothing that fit me good and after having two children that became even more challenging. Just because I am plus-size does not mean I want to wear a mumu or cherry fabric everyday. Although I do enjoy occasional mumu wearing ;)

I first came across Chic Soul Boutique this summer. I tried two tops and they instantly became a part of my weekly rotation. Being 3 months postpartum it was so nice to be able to order clothes online and have them fit perfectly.

Here are some of my favorite Chic Soul pieces. I am so thankful to find a brand that supports curvy women so they can have something cute to reach for in their closet and make them feel confident.

This Maxi was perfect for our Christmas card pictures this year. You will see I love all things with embroidery. I love how they have every item modeled and the models stats. Everything has worked out perfect each time I have ordered.

Sorry I am not a good #selfie taker so cut me some slack (and I spend most of my day with a 8 month old and 3 year old who aren’t the best photographers ha). This red top has been perfect for the holidays. I wore it to my husbands office party on Friday and it was so cute and comfy.

My First Stitch Fix! {Review}

I realize I am a few years behind on the whole Stitch Fix thing. In my life before having a baby it just didn't really appeal to me because I loved to go shopping. Now that I have a toddler that is something I rarely get to do. I do the majority of my shopping online and usually stick with brands and things that I know how they fit me. I decided to give Stitch Fix a try for a few different reasons.

1. I never get to go shopping
2. I am not adventurous, but perhaps I should be
3. Trying on clothes often makes me want to cry
4. I dislike large crowds
5. Shopping with a toddler is very difficult {mixed with the tears of trying on clothes can lead to a difficult time ha}

I just came home from church to my Stitch Fix waiting for me. I was very surprised to see it because it came a few days early and I didn't know the mail was ever delivered on Sunday.

Opening the box was a lot of fun. I felt like someone had sent me a gift, then I remembered it was myself and that I had to pay for it ha. The first thing I tried on was a printed knit dress by Nine Britton. I loved it! I love wearing dresses and this is a perfect casual and comfy dress that you can style many different ways and it has pockets!  This is the only piece I ended up keeping. 

I tried on another dress that was very similar to the first but in a solid navy color. It is the Alison Essential T-Shirt Swing Dress by Pixley.  I actually really liked this dress too but just felt like a lot of stuff I already have in my closet and I am trying to branch out a bit. 

The next thing I tried was a solid gray knit tee by 41 Hawthorn. I did like this shirt but was just a little to plain and I already have something similar. I am very frugal and didn't was to spend $32 on a shirt for layering.

While I had the grey shirt on I tried the cardigan I was sent by Cotton Emporium. I really liked the cut and style of this piece but just did not care for the color blocking and colors of it. 

My last item was a pair of skinny jeans by 1822 Denim. These are like a jegging and super comfortable. They were only $40- which I totally think they were worth it. They are a very soft denim. They were a bit big and I just bought 3 pairs of my favorite jeans ever from Kiki LaRue  (the Hudson jeans) so I decided to pass on them. (Little side note if you have never tried their jeans do it! The Hudson jeans are life changing and perfect for mom bods. These jeans save me from many meltdowns. ;) 

All in all I was very pleased with my first fix. Every item fit and most things I did like but I am just looking for some more adventurous pieces in my closet. After receiving your fix you go online and rate each piece and decided what you want to keep and send the rest back in the pre-paid package. I am really excited for my next fix because they should be better and better as my stylist learns what I like and don't. 

I would suggest this service to anyone! It is perfect for me as a mom that doesn't get to go out and try clothes on much, but I really think anyone would love it. I also love that you can choose the frequency of your fixes. They carry I wide range of sizes from 0-24W, petite and maternity. All you have to do is sign up online and feel out your style profile. I Made a Dress! Rifle Paper Cleo Dress

I love sewing and have been wanting to make myself something for awhile, but haven't had the confidence. I was inspired to make this after seeing it on Instagram and decided to give it a try.

I have so much fabric that just needs to be used so I was excited to get to make myself something with this Rifle Paper Co canvas. The pattern is by Tilly and the Buttons and is a great brave beginner pattern. I only had to use my seam ripper once! It is far from perfect but it does go on my body, which is much better than the last dress I tried to make ha :)
