Our 2nd Anniversary Trip ♥

Today is my second wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe we've already been married two years, but we're feeling excited to have another year under our belts!

Earlier this month we took a road trip to celebrate. A band we really love, The Lone Bellow, was performing in Durango, CO and we thought it would be fun to get away for a few days. We bought tickets several months before learning that this would be our last trip before a new Kelley makes us a party of 3.

We stopped in Santa Fe, NM for one night on the way to Durango. Neither of us had been there before. The adobe/pueblo style homes and businesses were great! We weren't there long but had a fabulous anniversary-dinner celebration at Geronimo that put our trip off to a great start.

After Santa Fe we headed to Durango, where we spent the majority of our trip. We instantly fell in love with the town. It's a perfect low-key tourist town lined with the cutest shops and restaurants. One shop, Urban Market, I frequented a few too many times.

In Colorado we took the Narrow Gauge Railroad from Durango to the small town of Silverton.  I was skeptical of the train ride--some the pictures seemed a little scary and the terrain did not leave much room for mistakes. But I'm so glad Byron convinced me to go. It was beautiful and we saw the mountains from a perspective that isn't possible from a car. After returning from the train ride we headed to see The Lone Bellow and they did not disappoint. We made it to a happy hour with the band and then saw the show at the coolest college in Durango where these happy mule deer hang out next to people (Fort Lewis). If you have a chance to see The Lone Bellow don't pass it up.

The next day we drove to Telluride for the day. Byron always wanted to go and it was only a 2 hour drive. Little did we know it would be the most beautiful drive. Every few seconds one of us was gawking in disbelief at the beautiful aspen trees that were changing colors. Creation proclaims the Glory of God!

We woke up early the next morning and drove 15 hours straight home so we could sleep in our own bed. Along the way we had the pleasant surprise of catching a huge hot-air-baloon festival in Albuquerque.  We really had a great getaway and enjoyed our time together. It was a perfect trip to celebrate our two years of marriage together.

Here are a few pictures from our trip. Enjoy :)
